Ophelia Coventina
Name: Ophelia Sirenia Coventina
Age: Unknown (up to 300 yrs) Gender: Female Race: Mermaid Occupation: Dancer Alignment: Neutral Good. A character of this alignment is guided by his conscience and typically acts altruistically, without regard for or against rules or tradition. They may have no problems cooperating with lawful officials, but does not feel beholden to them. In the event that doing the right things requires the bending or breaking of rules, they do not suffer the same inner conflict as a Lawful Good character would. |
Appearance: Ophelia stands almost six feet tall. Her frame is rather slender, but she still has feminine curvature. Her hair at full length falls down to her back. The moon phases may change her hair from dark blue to almost white. Current circumstances of her life will most likely show that she covers her left eye with her hair parted for side swipe bangs, or her floral hair pin that has managed to defy wilting with mystical properties of immortality.
Her rounded almond eyes at the iris are luminescent pools of a shallow blue, but the one that she covers may certainly be otherwise. Although anyone that doesn't know her would not think question this, but rather admire the hairstyle. Ophelia's fair skin is very well hydrated for a surprisingly flawless, smooth texture; enhancing the colorful features about her face such as her blue eyes, and flesh toned lips. Although another notable detail would be a single freckle below the corner of her right eye.
As she lived her life in the abyss, the lower half of her body was that of a mermaid with glossy scales. However, since her transformation to live on land she will be walking gracefully on two long, lovely legs. Her clothing of course may vary, but she fancies sheer white lace and pearls or anything with the finely woven netted style that keeps her close to her origins.
Personality: Ophelia may be on the quiet side, but she has a never ending curiosity that might as well make her seem social. She is not able to speak unless she whispers, but this may be painful at times due to the sacrifice of her vocals in order to join the land dwellers. If one has telepathy they may converse with her in this way, but otherwise she is very emotive with facial expressions, gestures, and other visual communications.
Bio: Ophelia was born and raised from the ocean's abyss. She and her familiar Grimpoteuthis specie of octopus, named Grimpo for short, often talk of living life in a safer and brighter world. She lived in the trenches with Cecaelia in a temple that worshiped a deity known as the Sea Mother. Even though she was raised in this religious environment Ophelia believed in a more loving deity by the name of Eadro who she learned was the creator of her kind. However, heresy would become punishable as she was beginning to sway the opinions of those around her in the temple.

One day there was ceremony held for her coming of age when the Sea Mother wrecked the temple while annihilating everyone inside with her zealous followers known as the Kou-toa. Her terrible gaze turned them all mad and if they weren't paralyzed in fear, they were senselessly murdering each other. The water turned as red as the Kou-toa's emotive scales that blended in with the crowd, and everyone was rendered to fleshy bits. That is all except for Ophelia who was taken in the grasp of the Sea Mother's claws before the poor girl had her eye slowly plucked out from its socket, and in its place will grow the same madness and destruction that begat the chaos that evening. Ophelia blacked out into a catatonic state and was left lying on the temple's platform.
A marid revived her several hours later with promises of helping her escape, but at a cost. After the horrifying events that passed she was eager to give anything to pay the price to the Sea Mother, the marid, and for granted passage into the afterlife and take little Grimpo with her; but by awful means necessary. As grim as the terms may seem, the risk seems to be the only option viable to depart this dark bewitching world. |
Afterwards she was turned loose to seek out the Oceanus Dragon that would take her to the surface. She has an encounter with a roaming Kou-toa in the maze of undersea thickets while on her search for the dragon, but Ophelia for the first time uses her cursed eye to place him in confusion. Although it drives the Kou-toa to a blind rage toward her instead. This causes Ophelia to let out a terrible shriek like a banshee that the Oceanus Dragon then wakes up to aid her. The Oceanus Dragon is obliged to take her as close to the ocean surface as possible, but then leaves once the deed has been carried out. He lets her discover what is on the other side on her own.
